I always make sure my students and their parents have realistic expectations when they start taking music lessons. For instance, violin is a difficult instrument to play and it can take months of practice to play a simple tune. However, it can be fun and enjoyable as long as it is understood that these simple accomplishments in playing the violin are in fact rather big ones. I request the parents of young (5-7 years old) students to be present during the lesson as often as possible. Read More

From my own experience both as a student and as a teacher, teaching anything in life is most effectively done with consistency and practice. Learning violin is no exception to that fundamental truth. As a teacher, I emphasize consistent practicing. I don't, however, believe in being too hard on students. It is very important that there is a love for what you do.   I will offer two types of curriculum to my students. Read More

Im a creative individual who has always been passionate about music. I started with piano at age 4 and studied violin in college. I was the concertmaster of my Universitys Symphony Orchestra and received music scholarships every semester. I currently perform around Los Angeles as a singer/songwriter. I love helping people discover their confidence and learn music! I attended a music magnet elementary school and have been a participant in honor orchestras, all state orchestras, and many chamber groups. Read More

For beginning students, i like to start with the Essential Elements method book. The pieces in this method book are good for beginners because they are short and simple. For more advanced students, I like to delve into the Suzuki method books and then into more advanced solo repertoire from there. However, each student is different, so each student's lesson may look different. I also like to see what pieces or scales the student is interested in learning and incorporate that into the lesson plan. Read More

Hello! Playing violin is one of my favorite things to do, and I like to enable others to share my love of the instrument. I graduated from the University of Redlands in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, and played in the University's orchestra and various chamber groups while studying there. I currently play in a chamber group that performs original Japanese music, and I currently teach at a non-profit music school in addition to private lessons. Read More

In my lessons, I take an integrated approach to music education, drawing connections between music of practically any style, genre, or tradition; between musical technique, analysis, and expression; and between music as an abstract entity (e.g., a score, an acoustic phenomenon) and the cultural and historical context in which it is both composed and performed. I work on music not only from the Western classical tradition, but also from pop, rock, jazz, and folk music from around the world, as I believe all musical styles are worthy of exploration and consideration. I am a highly conscientious motivated instructor who wants the success of my students and I do not give up easily on anyone who is willing to practice and put forth effort. I began piano lessons at age 4, was in competitions as a child and also worked with the Sherwood School of Music in Chicago. I graduated from Cal State University with a BA in piano and music history. I love all kinds of piano music and can teach many types but my training is classical. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
