Instruments: Piano Violin Music
I have been teaching for 5 years to a wide range of ages. I like to make my lessons fun but also encourage hard work! I take an individualistic approach to teaching, tailoring my lessons to my students. I teach violin for all levels and beginner/intermediate piano. I encourage all my students to learn how to read music and have a basic understanding of theory. I prefer a mix of a musical and technical approach and encourage a slow but steady timeline for learning. Read More

I value my ability to tailor lessons and my curriculum to the particular needs and goals of each individual student. I truly believe that there is not a 'one-size-fits-all' approach to learning the violin! I have created my own combination of sequential exercises and repertoire selections, using influences from pedagogues that I have studied under, including Shirley Givens, Bettina Mussumeli, and Elizabeth Faidley, and major pedagogy styles including that of Shinichi Suzuki and Paul Rolland. Having worked with a variety of musicians, I now know that a real teacher needs to be a human of great discipline and compassion. I sincerely believe in a healthy and holistic approach to teaching. This is why I am always concentrating on the mental and physical well-being of my students first. I pay particular attention to mental readiness, self-confidence, and stage-fright control. For instance, I offer my students some breathing exercises or ask them to write a good self-critique as homework. Read More
Instruments: Voice Violin
With all my students, I like to first figure out their goals and tailor our lessons to match each individuals aspirations. For every singer I will assign various vocal exercises to practice each week. We also will work on sight-reading exercises to encourage a high level of musicianship. For beginners, I typically like to start with the 24 Italian Arias and/or light musical theater pieces to establish a good technical foundation and gradually move on to more advanced repertoire.
