I have been teaching people to sing for over 20 years.Originally, I am from the UK but for the last 7 years I have been teaching in Freehold NJ. I have converted my garage into a "high tech" teaching and recording studio. As a working vocalist, I am very aware of the importance of taking care of one's voice. It is my instrument and I treat it with the same care and I respect as I would any other instrument. Read More

I find that a mix of classic technique with something more modern such as pop, rock or jazz can ignite the inspiration to actually want to learn more of the complex yet essential aspects of music. My students are encouraged to compose their own music as well as collaborate with other students to create and share their work. I also offer classes in audio software and beat making in addition to more specialized instrumental classes such as piano or guitar for singers. Read More

I am super passionate music teacher who loves facilitating students' vocal growth. I graduated from Westminster Choir College in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. During my time at Westminster, I have had the pleasure of singing in some amazing venues such as The Lincoln Center in New York, the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, The National Cathedral in Washington D.C., Oxford University in England, and many others. I would first establish the level of my student and figure out which direction suits them best to achieve there own personal goals. Someone first starting off , We would first concentrate on finger strength. Excercises that are fun but also help build the neccasary tools. Basic chords , scales , and basic strumming is a good example of where i would start a guitar student. Beginners of voice lessons we would be concentrating on breathing excercises and scales at first. Read More

Working for a local drum teacher in 2005, I started teaching private music lessons in students' homes. From there, I took up residence at a local music store where I taught guitar, ukulele, bass, harmonica, songwriting, and music theory for the next fifteen years. During the pandemic, I added teaching virtually to my repertoire and have fallen in love with it. Personally, I started playing music because I loved exploring and learning more about the music I I was already listening to--and I desperately wanted to learn how I could create my own sounds. Music is deeply personal; one must get to know each student's own personality, interests, and connections to music. Early on (both in the teaching relationship and in each lesson) one must assess where the student is, as to technical and musical growth, and with the music at hand. Then one finds, models, explains and encourages the next steps the student can achieve. Clear guidance and dialogue about what will happen outside the studio (listening, practice, rehearsal, performance) helps turn the weekly cycle of lessons into an upward spiral of progress, achievement, and reward. As far a voice lessons goes, in the beginning there will be many warm-ups before we move on to repertoire. As an instructor, I want to know what type of voice I am working with. It is very important to exercise your vocal chords and train them to be able sing properly. Also, we will be working a lot on posture; how to stand when singing, showing confidence and more!
