I received my Bachelors and Masters degree from Taiwan where I grew up, and I came to the US and received my Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in 2011 and my Doctor of Musical Arts from the Catholic University of America in 2017. I have recently relocated to the Charles Town WV area from Vermont. I have been teaching voice since 1989. I deeply enjoy helping students find their voice and developing their authentic style. My music background includes a great deal of performing in oratorios, choral and orchestral concerts, small vocal ensembles, musical theater, and cabarets. I am a frequent soloist at church on Sundays, as well as for funerals and weddings. Melissa began singing in a church choir at the age of four and has been "hooked" ever since. After years of performing in various choirs and taking lessons herself, she went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in vocal performance at Illinois Wesleyan University and her Master's at Illinois State University.
