Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students get really excited about reaching their goals. I consistently encourage students by giving them positive feedback about the progress they are making. I also help them push themselves to become better singers by being an inspiration and a mentor for them throughout their journey. I do feel that music is a journey, not a destination. I inspire my students to develop an appreciation for music that lasts their entire lives, and so my instruction is tailored to the individual no matter where they are on their journey. Read More

My teaching experience began in 2008, when I began teaching private lessons on various instruments, on voice, and on conducting. I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014. I have enjoyed every moment of teaching music and have taken so much from the experiences that I've had. Some students will pick up a technique or a piece of music in one week, while another might struggle with the same piece for a whole month, and that's okay! I will never force a student to move on from something they feel less than great about, and with that ideology, I believe students gain the confidence that is so vital to the creative process of music making. My experience teaching started in college. I was lucky enough to be elected the Music Director of an all male a cappella group at Missouri State and much of my time was spent teaching vocal techniques, musicianship, and arranging to the group as well as individually. At this time, I was also the tenor section leader for the Missouri State Concert Chorale under the direction of Dr. Guy Webb. After college, I pursued a teaching career in Birmingham, AL where I taught private voice and piano lessons to 30-40 students a week as well as coaching group classes and rock bands for competition.
