For all beginner students, I begin with the Essential Elements books. Once fingering and bowing have been introduced, I begin incorporating level-appropriate scales. These etudes and scales are vital for learning the technique necessary for more advanced pieces. I like to have fun in my voice lessons. I try to make it a low pressure atmosphere and my students and I work as partners to navigate their unique voice. I use examples of my own singing, but the goal is not for students to match my sound. I also use a lot of metaphors and visualization to achieve vocal changes.
