After this initial evaluation, I develop a personalized plan which addresses healthy vocal production and practice techniques which address the needs of the student. For me, enjoyment as well as developing proper, healthy technique is key. This means that student may have to do more gritty work than with other teachers, but this pays off as they get to tackle more challenging rep and ultimately can connect skills to repertoire more quickly. However, I always like to meet students where they're at. If they want to learn how to play their favorite pop song on piano, or want to audition for their local theater's musical theater production, my priority will always be teaching in ways that the student feels is relevant to their goals and interests. I began playing the piano at the age of 3, my father was a musician, and my first teacher! I continued to study classical, pop, and jazz stlyes, and began performing at age 7, and teaching in high school. Since college, I have maintained a private studio, either at home or in pretigious music schools, and have also taught in the school setting. I recently moved to the Denver area, and I am excited to start up and build a new student base. My focus is for my students to not only understand music, but enjoy it to the fullest extent. For this reason, there is no set structure for all students, but each lesson varies based on the student's needs and wishes. It is incredibly rewarding to watch my students grow in their passion and love for music as well as grow in their confidence.
