Instruments: Voice Music
My teaching experience dates back to my college days in Italy, as I began teaching private lessons part time 6 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 4 years. Although I come from the classical environment, I've found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the singing and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Instruments: Voice
Unique among any musical instrument, the voice is an indelible part of the human body and human experience, and as such there is no deeper or more fulfilling reward than using the voice to give the gift of music, passion, and artistic expression. But like playing any other musical instrument, vocalism requires constant practice, discipline and care to cultivate into an effective and healthful talent. By blending foundational techniques and triggering my students' unique musical passions, I strive to offer a learning experience that is as efficacious as it is enjoyable. Read More

Positive reinforcement is everything! While there will always be room for improvement and growth, it is crucial to acknowledge successes throughout each lesson. Learning a new instrument requires patience, practice, and determination, and reinforcers can be a huge motivator (I know they were for me when I was learning). Realistic goals should be set for the individual at each lesson. Most importantly, it is not a race. Adaptations will be made accordingly based on the learning pace of each student. Read More

After college I continued to gig professionally, tour, and record and kept up a private studio where I taught upright bass, electric bass and guitar. I kept working and added voice, piano, drums and ukulele to the roster of instruments that I could teach after working for BandWorks- a school of rock- and at the Bird School of Music. I've played a diverse range of music from Afro-beat, Latin, Latin Jazz, RB and Soul to Rock, Funk, Hip-Hop, Pop, Avant-garde, Jam, Americana, and Bluegrass and it has helped me to see the fundamental similarities that exist in all styles. Instruments: Piano Voice Flute
For beginning piano students, I use Marilyn Lowe's Music Moves for Piano series. If a student already has purchased piano books or has piano books from an older sibling, I would not ask the student to purchase more books until we had used what they already had to its full capacity. For adults and older beginners (piano and voice), I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. My teaching style is based on love, patience, kindness and understanding. My priority is to create a safe space for students so that they can express themselves freely and authentically. The most important aspect is to make learning a fun, enjoyable and fulfilling process by understanding the student and listening to what they want to accomplish. In order to understand the student and make this session an enjoyable one, I always use this technique of knowing what type of learner I'm working with: We have four main types of learners: visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic. 1.) Visual learning (music videos, movies, diagrams) 2.) Auditory learning (music, discussion, lectures) 3.) Reading and writing (making lists, reading poems, songwriting) 4.) Kinesthetic learning (movement, experiments, hands-on activities) Read More
