I use the bel canto method when I teach singing: simply put , beautiful vowel-based singing! This goes for all ages. I use standard warm ups such as those based on Estelle Liebling, as well as more non traditional methods such as those in CoreSinging and the Funky n Fun series. Overall I believe voice to be very customizable as a discipline and make sure each student gets what they need at every lesson- whether it's additional help with confidence in their ear if they are newer or more song polishing if they're more advanced or intermediate. I have been singing since the tender age of three! I have loved singing and performing since then. This love has propelled me into the classrooms where I honed my craft. I also learned the discipline of practicing on other instruments as I went through high school at Emerson School for the Visual and Performing Arts. I graduated with honors as a vocal major. I later attended Wabash College and graduated as the only music major in the class of 2003. Read More

I love teaching because singing became such an important part of my life after I started taking lessons. I think students should want to practice for the joy of it, and so try to keep lessons fun and informative. What is most important to me is that my students are singing pieces that they enjoy and connect with. Read More

In singing lessons students learn vocal techniques, musicianship skills, performance skills, and songs of their choice. Music games are played with younger students. Piano students. Piano lessons consist of technique such as scales chords arpeggios etc, repertoire, and music theory! I'm also open to working on songwriting, improvisation etc. I start beginner piano students off with Piano Adventures Primer Level along with A Dozen a Day for technique. Praise, suggestion, praise is a big part of any teaching situation I enter. I believe that it is crucial to a student’s learning to be in a safe and positive environment. As soon as they feel uncomfortable or as if it is not okay for them to be themselves, the productivity goes down and they are not able to accomplish things to their fullest potential. I also strive to influence students in not just education, but in life as well. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I emphasize with students that the goal is to find their own unique voice, and not an imitation of another singer or a more mature sound than their age healthily permits. Consistent practice goals and body awareness are key as students learn how to harness their voice! Read More
