My teaching experience varies for each of the instruments I instruct. I began teaching private lessons for guitar in 2004. My voice instruction began in 2009, and the rest of the listed instruments I began to teach in 2012. I believe consistent daily practice is essential for improvement in my students, and encourage my students to log their practice time. In the words of my professor Todd Woodbury, "You do not become a master from what you do within these lessons. Read More

I have been inspired with music since the age of 10. My dad was a big influence being profession jazz guitarist himself. He taught me so much about the guitar and other instruments. This influence has led me to be the teacher as well with guitar, bass, piano, drums and voice, which I have been doing during these years of teaching. I want the students to have fun during the teaching sessions, having them learn what style of music inspired them, and grow on that which gives me much pleasure watching them progress, thanks Al Pignataro Read More

There are several methods I use as a professor and they're all dependent on the student, their age and their goals. If they are younger, I like to employ elements of the Suzuki method because subjects like musical notation and theory might be too dense for the student. If the student has the aptitude/and or the discipline I can begin to apply a more systemic approach in terms of practice regiments like scales, practicing sight reading, their rhythmic feel, and even ear intonation and sight singing if the student is prepared for it. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 30 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last15 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy theinstrument and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I believe that this takes a very personal and trusting relationship between student and teacher. I feel that my responsibility is to decipher the student's most natural way to absorb information and to play into that strength. I am also accountable for refining the student's natural abilities while fostering emerging creativity in order to hone a balanced and effective musical person. The student will progress to have a firm knowledge of understanding, composing, communicating, and performing music. Read More

I began playing the xylophone at age 7, from 11-14 I studied the cello and played in my school's orchestra (receiving high remarks) and at age 14, my ears opened up to the sound of electric guitar in all its possibilities to make music. Since then, I am committed to the guitar and have not found an end to its possibilities. In 2012, I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Music and a B.A. in English. Read More

I started teaching private lessons a little before I started my bachelor's degree, with people who I knew coming to me requesting to be taught. With time, I became more and more aware of my teaching abilities, musical theory, and the responsibility that it was to take someone under your musical guidance and became more and more passionate about passing on the much or little knowledge that I have gathered along the way.
