I incorporate different warm-up etudes that I use with each student to build basic fundamentals of learning the instrument. And I also encourage students to practice scales and drills to develop their muscle memory. As lessons progress another part of my teaching method is to teach students something they can be proud of. For younger students that might be a nursery rhyme they know all the words to and feel like they can perform for their parents, for older students it might be a song they love and hear on the radio and always wanted to learn how to play.
