I have been teaching music for two years now. It started when I gave friends lessons. This helped my discover my passion for teaching. Why I love teaching is because it allows me to help other people using a skill that I'm good at, which is music. I also like the creative challenge of teaching. Different students learn in unique ways, so sometimes the teacher needs to change their lessons around the student. Read More

I have been teaching for more than 25 years and I have instructed students of many different ages and ability levels. My experience with music is now at 30+ years. I have worked as a private music tutor and have played with many local bands/musicians during that time. I've also done studio work with original acts, but I prefer performing live. When talking with young players or those who wish to become musicians my advice to them is to be patient, don't get discouraged and practice as much as possible! Read More

I am a composer and music educator originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. At a young age I admired classic rock and by high school found a passion for heavy metal music. My love for music lead to my decision to study music in college and make it into my career. After earning my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music from California State University, East Bay I relocated to Hartford, Connecticut to work on a doctoral degree in music composition. Read More

Greetings, I'm a recent college graduate who studied secondary education (grades 7-12). I'm a lifelong musician, and have been playing guitar and alto saxophone for about 20 years. I've also been playing piano for about 10 years. I studied music theory, composition, and musicianship for four years; and I continue to use these skills in my practice as a professional musician today. My band is currently in the process of recording a demo, and we've had numerous gigs in New Haven, New York City, and Massachusetts. Read More

My teaching style has never been to try to create students who think or play just like me. I want to help them to find their own voice as musicians. Of course I make suggestions, but if I see they have a strong idea about something I think can work, I will help them try to find their way. If I think it's a bad idea I will tell them that as well. I am a multi-instrumentalist teacher who loves bringing my experience on the bandstand and in the studio to students. I graduated SUNY Purchase specializing in jazz performance, have been on tour throughout the east coast and Midwest with 'The Element', and performed extensively in the Westchester and NYC area playing with 'Mokaad'. I have been fortunate enough to share the bandstand with greats such as Bernard Purdie, Charlie Lagond, and Gabriel Garzon-Montano. Read More

My number One thing is that it has to be fun learning otherwise the students get bored easily and disinterested so I always incorporate learning real music while you’re learning theory and carefully assessing the students strong points and trouble spots all the while giving them goals and consistent practice schedule And the critical importance of using a Metronome and having excellent timing. I want more than anything for it to be an enjoyable experience as well as a growth process for them and you continually push themselves to greater limits and I always stress the importance of practicing a little bit every day for muscle memory As supposed to spread out long practice sessions and I always give them encouraging words to help propel them to new heights, I also encourage them to bring any songs they would like to learn so that they can be playing with other fellow musicians and singers as quickly as possible Read More
