I have a love and passion for music and I am equally passionate about passing on all of the knowledge I have gained over my years to the students I get to work with. In 2013, I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Electric Bass Performance. At Berklee, I was mentored by some of the most amazing musicians in the world and I am delighted to get opportunities to mentor others like I was while in school. Read More

For me, it is easier for me to hear a rhythm or melody while looking at it. It is easier for me to grasp and understand the rhythm and melody in terms of the context of the piece. Same with my teaching. I will always demonstrate a scale or rhythm or chord for a student before having the student attempt it by themselves. After we work through the example together, I will have them try playing it alone and if a particular area needs to be fixed I will address it, make sure the student understands, and move on from there. My teaching experience dates back to 1988 when I began teaching. It's the greatest feeling in the world to see pupils learn to love music and grow as musicians. Teaching music in the style of interest to the student is important to maintaining interest and motivation to practice. The key is fun and enjoyment. Read More

I began teaching when I was 15 years old, which was around the year 1984,in Brooklyn NY.I studied music at Samuel J Tilden High School and taught bass at Meyer Levin J.H.S two afternoons a week after school..In 1989 I moved to Charlotte NC, attended college and began working in various bands.I had to stop teaching for a short period of time due to my busy gig schedule. It wasn't long before I discovered that there was something missing in my life, and that something was teaching music.I have taught students from the ages of 9,which is the age that I started playing, all the way up to 60 years old.I encourage my students to practice and to have fun at the same time.I want them to not be afraid to try something such as listening to their favorite music and attempting to play it by ear. That is what I did when I was taking lessons. It is good training for the ear. When I see my students develop their craft and a love for music, that is one of the greatest feelings. Every one lewrns difrently but that all fall into 1 of 5 categories . while I am not allowed to fully disclose the details of my fathrrs methods. The first few sessions will be observation. Testing each category to see where the student's. Strong point are. After which I will be able to make lesson plans for them to follow even out side of the class. I am a firm believe in the concept you get out of it what you put into it. Read More

I first find out a little bit about my students musical likes and taste, or, with younger students, find somethingfun that interests them, just to find some common ground. I also find out a students long term goals. For instance, if a student seeks to be a opera singer as opposed to a worship leader, the training needs to be more pointed towards classical pieces and Arias instead of learning church music and how to engage a crowd. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to accomplishing that wants and needs their wants and needs. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
