My teaching philosophy emphasizes and promotes that the student has fun and develops a love for music and the instrument that they play. The way that I do this is by placing an emphasis on music the student enjoys, and by giving the student a fair amount of autonomy in choosing their repertoire they would like to learn. By matching teaching concepts with songs that the student has chosen, I have found that the concept becomes better ingrained in the student and they enjoy practicing more. Read More

I am a bass and guitar player that has been playing for 15 years and teaching for 5. I absolutely love teaching and can teach any skill level and any age. Through my experience playing and collaborating with many different musicians, I have developed knowledge of several different styles, techniques, and genres. I also have developed a teaching method that prepares the student for playing with other musicians and encourages originality and creativity. Read More

Hey Guys, I'm a very enthusiastic person with a passion for teaching and love for knowledge. I graduate from NMSU with my BM in music performance in 2010. Most schools use the Hal Leonard Essential Elements and I tend to focus on this method as supplemental instruction but other methods are fine as well especially if the student is already working through a particular method book. For young students I encourage a mix of formal music instruction with music the student enjoys. Nothing unlocks a love of learning like discovering how your favorite music works! Adult students are welcome to tailor their lessons to their musical goals whether that's learning Bach or Breaking Benjamin! Read More

I believe first and foremost in supporting and developing what musically inspires a student’s decision to study and/or play music.  In order to fully develop control, musicality and understanding of the music language, it is important to focus on several aspects of music including music theory (scale and harmonic structure/function and rhythm) ear-training, reading and performance skills. Like any aspect of life, consistency and patience are two very important qualities to posses when working towards a goal. Read More

My main goal and teaching is to inspire self motivation and make it fun! I like to pick songs that are fun to play and challenging at the same time depending on what level you are at that time. By doing this I think keeping the instrument out and not in the closet is a good start that way if the inspiration hits you and you want to play it is within your reach "guitar stand and wall hangers are ideal" and not in the case the put away " Out of sight out of mind" I suggest buying a music stand for your instruments and or wall hangers which seem to work very well as a display and also so the instrument is within your reach. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
