I always start with new students by assessing their level. For most beginner students, I introduce open chords and basic single note playing, eventually leading to chord progressions and basic classic rock riffs. Beyond this, I always tailor my teaching to a student's tastes, as I know the best way to engage a student and keep them excited is to show them how to play their favorite music! If and when students become interested, I love to incorporate music theory into my lessons, alongside the technical aspects of instrumental technique. Read More

No one ever regrets learning music and I believe that often times when a student gives up on music it's because they are not taught in a way that is effective for them. A one approach fits all teaching style can cause students to loose interest and not practice which in turn leads them to get frustrated, bored and ultimately causing them to give up. I teach because I love to see people get those a-ha moments, which gives them the ability, understand music in a way that they can teach themselves. Read More

I have a strong passion towards music that developed early as a child. During my life i have had the opportunity to take lessons from some of the greatest guitar players that ive ever heard and integrate their teaching methods and styles into my lessons. Recently ive played with 2 of the top 3 wedding bands in the Northeast (Boston Commen and Park Street Band) all of these things have pushed my limits musically to allow me to play a broad range of music. My teaching style is fairly easy going. I don't force unrealistic expectations on students because everyone is learning music for a different reason. I like to figure out what their reason is and progress accordingly. If it's a young student looking to continue music throughout their school career, I will make sure they learn how to read sufficiently and I will make sure they know how to play with peers by performing with the student as an accompanist. I had my first student when I was in middle school (around 1993). Jumping forward a few years later, I started teaching again around 1998 while attending Bekrlee College of Music. At that time I was only teaching partime but quickly escalated to fulltime once I graduated in 2001. At my peak, I was teaching between 40-45 students weekly. I currently have 30 students of all ages and levels. I cover several styles depending on the students interests. Read More

I began teaching guitar part time in late high school to just a few students. During college, I expanded my student base to include up to 30 students per week. I also have plenty of experience teaching group lessons of up to 25 children in both lesson and rehearsal formats. I prefer to teach my students using a jazz sensibilty applied all types of music. This brings about a well-rounded and open-minded perspective on both writing and performing in all genres. Read More

I've been teaching on and off for about the past 10 years. I graduated from Mcnally/Smith College of Music in 2005 and have been teaching ever since. Sometimes my schedule has been more focused on performance as I have done national tours and exstensive recording but I've always been passionate about teaching. I've always enjoyed watching the "lights turn on" as someone gets a new idea or concept and the doors open for them creatively. Read More
