Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals and providing appropriate music for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants, needs and technical abilities. Read More

Adult students can opt to go to the next book in the series (Book II and III of the 'modern' piano course). For String students I am comfortable in the 'Essential Elements' series, 'String Builder' series and 'All for Strings' methods as an excellent base with which to start. For Guitar Students I am a fan of 'Alfred's Basic Guitar Method' Books 1-3. For Bass guitar students I prefer 'Mel Bay's Bass Guitar Method. Read More

Music is a powerful tool in expanding one's understanding of academics, emotions, and culture; among a variety of other things. I began studying music in a performing arts academy at the age of 10. While there, I studied saxophone, cello, double bass, and voice. I continued to major in music throughout high school. While there, I studied within the jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, concert band, marching and pep bands, and saxophone quintet. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method and the Sassmannshaus Early Start books. As they grasp the beginning fundamentals, I incorporate the Alfred "My First Theory Book" series. As the students advance, we begin using Martin's "I Can Read Music," Rick Mooney's "Position Pieces for Cello" and "Fun in Thumb Position." For adults, I also use the Suzuki method, as well as the Rick Mooney books. Read More

While the relationship every teacher and student will be different, I strive to find a balance of discovery and fun with determination and work. Developing skill at a musical instrument is difficult and takes time! Nurturing my students' love of music is essential to helping them persevere through the challenges of learning. Based on students' goals, we develop roadmaps together to help pace their growth. Every lesson is an opportunity to evaluate and adjust those goals, and consistent lessons means that there will always be clear communication about where a student is at and where they want to go! I began playing violin at the age of 12. Over the years, I developed my skills further by joining my local community orchestra and getting lessons from renowned instructor pedagogues. I received my Bachelor's degree in Music Education at the State University of New York at Fredonia in 2017, where I performed regularly with the Symphonic and Chamber Orchestra, and learned about how to teach students both individually and in a school setting.
