I help students set goals for themselves, and guide them to those goals through music I choose and music the students are interested in, which I sometimes let the students choose themselves. My teaching style is informed by trauma-informed care and a student-led philosophy. This means that I take into account the frustration that learning a new instrument can entail, and use therapeutic techniques to make sure my students are regulated during these moments of frustration. I provide structure and guidance for my students, but give them opportunities for free exploration, decision making, and leadership throughout a lesson. Hello! My name is Natasha and I am prettywell known in the Baltimore area having taught hundreds of young musicians over the last 20 years.I love to play music and teach it. Some of my favorite activities are playing in an orchestra or a quartet, fiddling for dances or jamming with friends, playing piano, practicing, touring and performing. My teaching experience actually started with tutoring friends and classmates in math and occasionally other subjects. I find that most principles of teaching are cross-disciplinary though, and it did not take me long to feel comfortable teaching cello. I maintained a small personal studio for about three years, during which time I also had a temporary gig introducing music to children with disabilities. As much as I can obsess over mastering my own skills and hobbies, it somehow makes me even happier to see and nurture that growth in others. Read More
