For all of my students, regardless of level, playing together in lessons is a big part of my teaching method. Playing together in lessons fosters intonation, musical commutation skills and sound blending. For beginning students, I work a lot on sound production and tonguing through progressive etudes and duets. I incorporate performance environments early into my curriculum. I have taught at the Peabody Conservatory Prep Division, Yale College lessons program, Music in the Schools Initiative, privately contracted lessons, Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT, and finally and currently, I teach full time as Associate Chair of Music and Assistant Professor at the University of Bridgeport since 2022. It is important to adopt a teaching style that is tailored to the individual needs of each student, especially because each student learns at their own pace. Setting goals is one of the first topics I discuss with my students, and then indicate some of the steps they need to take to achieve the goals that they set for themselves.
