Have fun. Love what you do. If it stops being fun push a little further ahead and see what happens. All it takes is a little ember to start a fire and I am ready to help my students find that fire within themselves. Its not always going to be easy and they will fall and stumble and when that does happen (and it will) I will be there to show them how to pick themselves up. Read More

While this can and should involve classical standards (Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven, Brahms) the student also has the option to venture outside of classic music. This could include, pop, rock, folk, hip-hop, film and video game scores, and anything else that peaks the student's interest. Having a composition background enables me to provide cello arrangements and adaptations of various music for the student to learn, as well as accompaniments so we can play together in an ensemble context. Suzuki held. Every child can absolutely learn to play the cello when given the opportunity and the patience of an encouraging teacher. I particularly enjoy helping others on their musical journey providing a holistic approach to each and every student. Everyone learns differently and taking a one size fits all approach will leave many students unhappy and/or feeling as though they dont have the talent to play cello. Learning is unique to each individual thereby requiring a tailored approach and lesson plan ensuring that the student is able to reach their highest potential. Read More

Currently, I teach string instruments at the Yamaha Music School in Cerritos, California, and maintains my private music studio in Murrieta, California. I was very active in chamber music performance. I was a founding member of the University Faculty Chamber Music Ensemble, the Oxford Piano Trio, as well as the baroque music trio, Heinekens Circle. As a principal and an assistant principal cellist, I have performed with many different symphonies as a cello soloist. Read More

For beginning students I like to begin with a combination of Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and Suzuki Method books. I find Essential Elements to be useful for learning the fundamentals of playing the instrument and music theory. However, Suzuki offers the ability for students to quickly play solo repertoire. I also incorporate learning and understanding scales for the purpose of learning fingering patterns and intonation. As students progress, I also find Rick Monney's Positions Pieces extremely valuable. Read More

My approach is holistic, focusing on the emotional and psychological aspects of music as much as the technical. One of the key aspects of my teaching style is the use of healthy teaching mechanisms, drawing inspiration from therapeutic practices. I understand that every student is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and goals. Therefore, I strive to create a safe and nurturing learning environment where students feel empowered and enriched, rather than overwhelmed. Read More

Started playing the cello at the age of nine, I grew up pursuing my passion as a classical performer, and now have passion in sharing it to others. I graduated at Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a Bachelors of Music Performance. At the age of 15, I had my first stage debut at the Winners Solo Concerto Performance with the W Philharmonic Orchestra. I’ve had recitals, won prizes at competitions and concours, performed in orchestras, chamber, opera, and musical theatre. Read More
