I began my teaching career back in 2014, teaching cello to children from aged 3 -12. I love the challenge of teaching young students how to focus and concentrate, and I am always in awe of a child's ability to use creative problem solving. Something I like to encourage in my students, regardless of age, is to maintain this child-like state of curiosity and creativity. We adults can learn a lot from our younger counterparts! Read More

I started teaching cello lessons 10 years ago in an after school program for 3rd and 4th graders. In this program, I taught music theory and group cello lessons for classes of 4-20 students. Around this time I also started teaching private cello lessons to students who wanted to move at a faster pace than group lessons. Since then I have taught many students of all ages and and levels. Many of my students have started to play the cello with no musical background or knowledge. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons 25 years ago. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. Very calm, friendly and accomodating to students and parents. Every student is an individual personality with different background, age and ability and I use differentiated instuction for each of them to get the best out of them. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Read More
