Oftentimes I tailor lessons that ive created in my past to create lesson plans for individual students. I oftentimes use action research methods in helping me determine whether or not the teaching method that is being used in the lesson is effective for the student receiving lessons. I started teaching Privately in 2007 and have continued off and on since. I have worked with students in Woodwind and Brass either privately or in a school setting. Also, I had the opportunity to work with multiple schools ensembles and marching bands. I encourage all of my students to maintain a constant practice schedule in order to work toward our goals. Solos and etudes allow the student to train his/her musical skill, and I assign them to give the student a chance to make the music his/her own creation. Finally, I love the opportunity to play duets with my students to give them a chance to make music together in a fun, no-pressure environment. One of my greatest joys have always been to see my students make progress and express how happy they are with themselves after working hard, and this is one of my greatest motivations to teach and give teaching all that I've got. As I went through high school I began to realize that I had a knack for teaching young players one-on-one as opposed to a large classroom, this is what inspired me to study music performance as opposed to music education. Typically when I begin with children I incorporate the Hoffman Method and Books such as the Little Mozarts books, Alfred, Faber and Master Theory. I allow for children to learn fundamentals in a fun way so they can begin to read music and perform if they are interested. Students get to learn the basics like Mary had a little lamb, hot cross buns, jingle bells, and other fun tunes.
