For young beginners, I make use the method book that is being used at their school as well as supplying materials specifically for their instrument. As the student progresses, he/she will be introduced to solo repertoire as well advance method books for recital and competitive purposes. The objective is keep the student challenged but at the same time making sure the lessons are enjoyable. For intermediate and advanced students, I use the school curriculum at the school they happen to attend to meet the requirements of the music program. Read More

Each person is unique which transfers to a different learning technque for each student. I firmly believe in making sure each student learns at his or her own pace. If my student is having difficulty learning something new, I will ensure the student understands the lesson a different way i.e. singing a piece, clapping the rhythm, drawing pictures... etc. No matter the lesson, each student will have fun and exceed in accomplishing their goals. I like to use the Rubank Elementary,Intermediate, and Advance method books depending on the skill level. I would say I focus on the fundamentals, embouchure, tone, air, technique, and etc. Having a strong basic will get the students to play anything they want in the long term. For example, having a strong correct embouchure is really important in playing the clarinet. It is more easier to play the clarinet and you will sound like a rock star!I try to make anything fun because music should be fun! Read More

I am a music lover first and foremost, with a wide-ranging experience as both a musician and an educator. It is my great pleasure to share the study of music with my students. I recently relocated to the DFW area after completing a teaching certification at Wayne State University in Detroit. There I studied classical performance on saxophone, clarinet, and flute while I focused on the study of education. Before that, I lived on the East Coast. Read More

They had a tenor sax that they let me play and I was hooked! I made the top ensemble after my first semester and never looked back. I made region band every year after that and earned 1st divisions on all my ensembles and solos. I played 1st tenor in the jazz band in High School and started to think I could do this for a long time. I got a scholarship to UTA and marched with them for a few years while I concentrated on classical saxophone and studied jazz. Read More

Saxophone/flute: Any beginning band method book or standard beginning to intermediate woodwind book. Appropriate repertoire. Piano: I use most beginning methods, including Alfred, Bastien, Piano Adventures (Faber), and other standard piano methods.
