Music is a big part of everything that I do. I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1992. I have performed in ensembles, for weddings and special events, and provided accompaniment services to other musicians. I enjoy the complexity and challenges of classical music the most, but I also enjoy the experiences of playing music that makes me feel good. Whether it's music for church, school, accompanying for soloists in competitions or just making music for fun, I love what I do! Read More

It is important to me that students enjoy their lessons and the process of working on a piece of music. This starts with a good rapport between student and teacher. I also believe that a successful musician needs a strong technical base. This includes scales, long tones, and chorales, Lessons will always begin the basics and then move on to music and repertoire. Lessons will be paced to keep students engaged. Read More

I grew up taking private clarinet lessons in the Seminole county area, all the way through high school before I studied under Dr. Lynn Musco and Mrs. Jessica Speak at Stetson University. While pursuing my studies, I took various pedagogical classes such as Woodwind methods, and Pedagogy for Musicians, both of which I received A+'s in for my final grade. As mentioned in my bio, I have a diverse and long list of performance history as well (my recent senior recital is linked to my profile). Read More

I am an organized teacher and lessons are structured to accommodate technique development and fun solo work. Each month we will set a goal, and build a weekly plan to get you to accomplish that goal. I ask students to keep a journal of their goals and practice time focus so we can measure how we're working to our goal. We will always do warm up exercises, scale of the week to improve sight-reading, finger twisters to improve technical ability, and solo work of your choosing to put all that practice into action! I began playing the clarinet at the age of 12. My primary clarinet teachers were Jack Fisher, William Holman, Thomas Ridenour, Carmine Campione, Brian Moorhead, and John Yeh. I earned my B.M. and B.S. degrees from the University of South Florida and my M.M. degree from DePaul University. I have performed, and still perform, with many orchestras throughout Florida including The Florida Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, St. Petersburg Opera, Sarasota Opera, Southwest Florida Symphony, Orlando Philharmonic, Brevard Symphony, Space Coast Symphony, and the Walt Disney World Candlelight Orchestra. During the initial lesson, I determine what the student is interested in learning the best approach pace to help them achieve their goals. While I have recommend materials to varying levels of students, every lesson approach is different. With all my students, I believe keeping them engaged and excited at what they are doing is most important. I've found even the simple act and writing out a favorite song and learning through that can give wonderful benefits, gaining new tools without realizing. Read More

I began teaching as a college student. Many of my peers looked up to me and I helped them along their musical path. I further assisted them on their instrument technique, and assisted in learning new styles like jazz music. During my masters tenure, I was a graduate assistant and taught many students and led ensembles to great student achievement. I also was a middle school band director for a brief period. Read More
