Each student in my studio is treated as an individual, with their own unique lesson plan tailored just for them. A typical lesson includes fundamentals (scales, articulation, embouchure), etudes, sight reading, solo repertoire, and duets....plus anything the student is working on in their current performing ensemble(s). I use a wide variety of method books like Learn To Play The Clarinet, Rubank Methods, Lazarus Method for Clarinet, Klose Celebrated Method for Clarinet, and a multitude of etude studies from Rose to Cavallini. Since I used to be a middle school band director, I am extremely familiar with the teaching beginners. I customize all lessons to each student's goals. After students have passed through the fundamentals, we will work out of the Rubank intermediate or advanced books for technique development. For high school students, we will determine their starting level and goals they want to achieve. For three months to six months, students work on a solo of their choice. Read More

I have performed in ensembles, for weddings and special events, and provided accompaniment services to other musicians. It is really fulfilling for me to see my students use the knowledge they gain from my instructions to improve their playing level. Effective practice habits are agreed upon between myself and each student. Goals cannot be achieved without effective practice habits. Students are encouraged to participate in their community and school music performance activities, enter competitions and do music examinations.
