My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods. I start teaching to beginners, mostly kids and teenagers, the French Clarinet Method of H. Klose book 1 accompained by an appropiate solo repertoire for the level and warm up excersices, once the student has progressed with all the clarinet fundamental tecniques I introduce the second part of the method and varied solo pieces that can be performed in solo recital performances, and school concerts. I am an instructor that focuses on building the whole musician. I can teach multiple disciplines including classical, baroque, jazz, latin jazz, Brazilian, rock, middle eastern, and others. In the last several years I have learned about flute pedagogy and teaching artistry from Marco Granados, audition repertoire and standard repertoire from the BSO's Clint Foreman, and baroque flute/period performance from Na'ama Lion. My philosophy is that flute instruction should extend beyond western concert music and conventional repertoire to build versatile musicians prepared for the modern musical world through a Socratic teaching method that builds the desire to learn. I then picked up tenor saxophone to play in the jazz big band, and I began my piano journey at the end of high school to diversify my musical knowledge! I have gained a lot of experience playing in the professional music world through playing at Westfield State! From playing in WSU's symphony, to creating my own chamber ensemble, to playing in the jazz big band, to playing in a pit orchestra and even dabbling in chorus and chamber choir, I like to be as musically versatile and explorative as I can! My teaching experience began as community outreach & engagement with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra's "Crescendo" program. I ran group clarinet lessons and performed in Boston Public Schools. I entered a similar relationship with teaching when I relocated to Chicago in 2016 to play with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Upon my return to Boston, I began teaching privately and joined the faculty of the North End Music & Performing Arts Center where I am a Woodwind Teaching Artist for the Eliot Band Program, as well as teach private lessons.
