My teaching expereince dates back to before I graduated undergraduate school. Since I had a semester to wait for Commencement, I was afforded an opportunity to work as a Teacher assistant, in an Open Classroom Learning Environment. This immediately preceded a very rewarding Student Teaching experience in the rural southern state of North Carolina. I aim to help students enjoy practicing, whatever level they are at. This means lessons will be tailored to each student's interest, while still following a structured progression to help them gradually advance. All students will be guided through long tones, scales, technical studies, etudes, and solo pieces. Students at higher levels may also include orchestral excerpts. As a teacher, I am always wanting to see my students enjoy what is happening in the music. I have wide spectrum of students that I have taught. Some have wanted to play an instrument casually and others wanted to go into the performance route. I am flexible when it comes to my teaching. If a student wants a more serious lesson setting, I can give that to them. If a student is feeling overwhelmed by the lesson load, I can change that as well. Read More
