Nothing is more rewarding than passing the knowledge of music to my students. It truly is an invaluable gift to have the experience and feeling that playing music gives to a person. The student will carry this with them the rest of life and that truly inspires me to push my students to find their own voice on their instrument. Music is a deeply personal experience and to be able to push my students in a direction to focus their creativity on the drum set is my true goal in teaching and I hope to share it with you! The philosophy underlying my teaching method can be summed up this way: If you can say it, you can play it. "Wop bop a loo bop a lop bom bom!" I'll bet I can teach you that rhythm quickly if I say it to you. And once you say it, it's easy to play on the drums. Some people play by ear and others by note, but I think it's best to do some of each. Read More

I believe the proper technique is essential in order to be a successful percussionist. We would start by how to hold the stick properly, whether it be matched grip or traditional grip. From there we would move on to how to properly hit the drum and bounce the stick. The first few lessons are usually all about technique and approach and we would mainly stay on one drum or surface, but after that we would move to the drumset or another area that interests the student. Generally layed back low pressure lessons, but I will push a student if they let me. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Read More

I am an accomplished musician and internationally renowned music educator. I have worked extensively as a performer, conductor, clinician and ensemble adjudicator at jazz festivals, and seminars in the United States, Europe and South America. The breadth of my teaching and performing background is rooted in the rigorous and varied training I received at the LaGuardia School of Performing Arts in New York City. My stylistic diversity enabled me to perform in a score of ensembles including concert band, symphony and chamber orchestra, brass ensemble, jazz choir and stage band. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Drums Bass Guitar
I have been playing guitar for approximately 15 years. Over those years I have played many different styles, playing different instruments in different bands, from open mics to big venues all over the country. I love playing music and love helping others discover their love as well. One note worthy teaching gig I’ve had was working for a company in Nassau County, NY teaching guitar and music theory to developmentally challanged adults in a day program. There is no musician I will turn away; my focus is guitar, but I have many instruments and can introduce the basics for many such as drums, violin, viola, cello, piano, bass guitar, as well as composition and arrangment. I have worked with many bands, ensembles, and chamber groups, and would love the opportunity to help you achieve your musical goals. Whatever your musical interests, I'll help you get to where you want to go. Read More
Instruments: Drums
My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I began teaching private lessons 8 years ago. I only had a couple of students at that time due to my workload in school and other curricular activities, but I felt comfortable in my ability to teach the drums intuitively, thanks to my drum teacher. Also, as I am constantly learning from my teachers, peers and from listening to all kinds of music teaching almost comes as second nature to me. Read More
