I teach students how to play, as well as, read music.  I teach a variety of techniques and styles of music using books and making up lessons for my students.  I teach my students at any age how to play the set, along with snare drum techniques, and play with songs. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Vic Firth books. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce more complicated styles and techniques that are appropriate for their ability. Read More

My teaching style is much different than most schools. I have taken lessons my whole entire life and I decided to make a change. Parents will recieve a professional audio recoding of each lesson so they can hear what their child is working on. We offer recitals every month so student can showcase their talents to family and friends. This is crucial for students to perform so they can understand and feel the satisaction of performing music. It's a well known fact that few things are as fun as playing the drums. My goal is to make the learning process as fun as actually playing. I encourage students to learn by demonstrating how even the most basic concepts function in the most complex settings. I find students have the most fun when they present me with something specific they wish to learn. Just about two months later, I found myself sitting in with a reggae band while vacationing with my family on the British Virgin Island, Anguilla. I distinctly remember playing No Woman No Cry by Bob Marley with these guys, a tune I had dreamt about playing for as long as I could remember. I was in heaven.
