I began teaching privately and working with area high school marching bands during college in 2002. After graduation, I taught public school before transitioning to another job in the music industry. I've continued to teach privately in my church studio and students homes for the past 7 and a half years. Regular practice and lesson consistency shows how fast students can progress. For younger students with no sight reading experience, I will typically start of with Ted Reed's book Syncopation. This book starts the student off with a very basic music notation vocabulary. This vocabulary is often quickly absorbed so that the student may proceed to more complicated musical words or phrases. Most of my professional experience has been with the Marine Corps Music Program for 15 years. I also grew up with private piano lessons, and continued band and show choir throughout high school.  Before my career with the Marine Corps Band, I also performed professionally around northern Ohio as a keyboardist and drummer in Top 40 and Rock bands for 3 years.
