I grew up around music, so it is a huge part of my life. I have been playing the drums, piano, and organ for over 20 years, and singing even longer and teaching/coaching/instructing for 10 years. I construct lessons from a variety of resources, including reference texts and modern independent instructional apps, but do not follow one source for direction of lessons. I find the interests of a student and construct exercises that will allow them to play closer to what they most enjoy, while also disciplining in drumming fundamentals. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more.
