Prior to making the transition to a full time musician, I was a swim and surf instructor for children and adults! This experience greatly prepared me for teaching music. I learned a lot about patience, communication, and having fun which is what I've been incorporating into my 3 years of teaching drums and percussion. I also have experience with different age groups, cultural backgrounds, and children with disabilities. I also gave guitar lessons to adults of different ages, ranging from 20s to 80s. This includes a position as a Recreation Instructor for the City of Los Angeles. So growing up in this atmosphere has helped me through the years. I incorporate a variety of different lesson books to ensure musical reading while encouraging consistent exercises in using our musical ear. Furthermore, I update and change my methods if I feel the current method is becoming ineffective.
