My loveof music began at a young age through playing piano, percussion, and guitarand continued to grow throughout my years of schooling. I graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver in May of 2013 with my Bachelor of Music degree with a Concentration in Music Composition. I have since been spreading my knowledge of music throughoutmy local community through teaching, playing, and composition. As the student progresses they will be able to work on some of their own preferred songs as well. They will learn how to adapt to the needs of the song, and add what might make it better. I stress repetition, so muscle memory and speed are instinctive, and as a drummer consistent practice is imperative. My method involves playing to each persons skill level. For absolute beginners I think it is crucial to address the students interests and influences, and start crafting an approach to learning the basic rudiments and skills that apply to those drummers / bands. As a student becomes more and more skilled I will start switching over to having two drum sets at the space so that a student can see how a beat is played in real time, and also work on setting into the pocket more easily by playing what I am playing.
