I have been teaching for 3 years independently and through other academies throughout my 10 years of experience. My goal with teaching is to get people on a regular routine of practicing their instrument and help people find what they like in efforts to help them pursue it later in life while having fun in the process. Since 2011, during the summers, I was an employee for the New York Summer Music Festival or NYSMF for short. I started at NYSMF as a counselor and music theory teacher and I later earned a position as TA and Commercial Voice-Over Teacher. The festival is a wonderful place that hosts 11 to 21 year olds at SUNY Oneonta for 2-week session jampacked with ensemble rehearsal, solo and ensemble performances, guest artist concerts, classes, faculty/staff or student showcases, masterclasses and so much more. For beginner Piano / Keyboard Students, I use the Bastien Books. They are simple to understand and get the Student through the first few stages of Right Hand Left Hand coordination and positions. I have several different books for Saxophone Students that feature technique, solo repertoire and duets. Depending on whether the student is a child, a teenager or an adult, I choose either a Daisy Guitar Book, Hal Leonard books, or the Berkeley School of Music for Guitarists. Read More

On every instrument that I teach I place great importance on fundamentals, especially developing a deep sense of rhythm. Whether a novice student is learning basic concepts for the first time or an advanced student is maintaining their musical foundation, a short routine of very simple warmups is essential and is also a beautiful way to connect to the instrument every time we sit down to it.For young beginners on piano and guitar I start with the Faber Piano Adventure series and the FJH Young Beginners series - for young drum students I use Alfred's beginners drum set book. Typically, for students just starting out we would start on standard snare method, working out rudiments and gaining a sense of feel for drumming. This would eventually build up to working with the entire drum set, where we would explore several styles including Rock, Pop, Jazz, Swing, Latin and everything in between.
