I have played music since first grade, starting out on the piano. after dabbling with violin and other instruments, I gradually moved toward my current primary instrument. The drum set has revolutionized my understanding and love for this outstanding art form. I began playing in school bands all the way up through high school. The most important goal to me when teaching anyone of any level is to have them leave feeling like they've actually learned something. I feel as a teacher that the students wants and needs are paramount and should be treated as such. I like to work with whatever pace they're comfortable with and do my best to accommodate them with what they may want out of drumming. For beginner, start with simply touching every part of Drum set, thus students can see how it sounds like, and how fun it is to simply hit the drums. After that I would start with hand technique, which is 3 basic stroke patter, and how to apply them to every part of Drum set. For Advanced beginners, I would start from getting touch with rudiments, and sight reading so that student will have well rounded skills, over all good drummer so to say. Read More

Whether my new students are children or not, I will usually start from the basics and work our way up from there. With children, I will stretch the basic lessons further until they have a solid foundation to build on. I write out every single lesson plan by the date and have each student do the same so that we do not lose track of where we are. Eventually we learn different styles of interest, but basic technique and rudiments are usually what we build on first. Read More
