I started to teach in the second part of my career, when I came to New York,in 2001.I was teaching lessons to occasional students, whom I was acquiring after their visits at the basement where I used to practice,in Park Ave.After some years I realized I have a talent and a passion for teaching so I started to look for more students and while at it, I refined my teaching skills. Then I've found Musika,a great opportunity for me to establish my teaching activity in a professional and more consistent way.Today I've been teaching for them for about 4 years and my enthusiasm in seeing my students grow is bigger and bigger every season. I teach because I love imparting knowledge and making connections in this way, and because I love the fundamental building blocks of musicianship and music theory. I have found that with careful attention to a student's character, the possibilities for learning are boundless. I like to let love guide the process, in the sense that I observe carefully the kinds of sounds that a student is fond of, and attempt to structure their learning in a way that empowers them to make those sounds. I believe playing and teaching go hand in hand, seeing that the best teachers and educators are the ones that are actually out in the field making a living with that particular craft. I have had the opportunity to teach a lot of young children, teenagers and adult students over the years and it's still a privilege to be able to impact lives wherever possible and build student and teacher relationships. I am a professional drummer/composer/educator living in NYC. I grew up in Dallas, Texas and began playing classical piano at age 4. I was given a drumset when I was 9 and switched to drums full time when I was 11. After high school, I attended University of North Texas to pursue a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Performance. In 2011, I moved to Brooklyn to perform full time. I later decided to go back to school and completed my Master of Arts degree in Music Performance at City College of New York. Read More

Ive been a private music teacher for 10 years. I've helped students reach their goals, either for a competition or for leisure. Over the years I've taught many students of different ages and backgrounds and I've learned to adapt my lesson plans to work for them. Everyone learns differently at different paces so I've developed the patience and perseverance that it takes to work hard with students and bring to light their potential. Read More

For beginning students, I typically begin with a deep dive on rudimental studies and keyboard skills on drums and mallet percussion. I gradually introduce notation and music literacy tools to improve the students understanding of how the fundamentals of music interact with one another. I use a lot of rote teaching methods as well to take full advantage of how physical percussion and drums can be. I find that students interests will quickly guide me to making suggestions for different repertoire to take on as the student is ready. Read More
