My teaching experience dates back to my college days when I was an instructor for the Rangeview High School percussion ensemble for two years. This led me to start teaching private drum lessons, live/studio session drumming, and music production. After college I was feeling like that music education was not keeping up with the music business. Learning exercises in a vacuum can be uninspiring and boring, but turning those exercises into games and allowing students to play along to tracks makes the music come to life! For beginners I ask what are their favorite songs and go from there. If they do not know then I usually play a popular song. I hope to get the beginner attuned with playing along and the importance of timing. With my guidance the student builds their own beginner book through our lessons.
