Depending on a student's musical background, I would typically start with foundational exercises like scales/arpeggios/broken chords and discussions of essential music theory elements to help a student progress. If the student is brand new to the flute, I would also do some breath work, and introduce exercises to improve tone and understand tuning. I started teaching flute more than a decade ago, and hope to share the gift of learning this universal language for years to come. I have interned for leading intellectual property and entertainment lawyers, including the former director of business affairs for Sony, the late Steve Gordon. My volunteer management experiences were filled with helping artists educate children in their respective and diverse communities. Then, after law school working for two bay area nonprofit organizations, one that focused on nonprofit compliance on an international scale and the other that is formed to dismantle systems of oppression through organizing, advocacy, and litigation, I have dovetailed my skills and beliefs into both working for civil rights, and teaching flute in expanding the reach of music education nationwide. I am motivated to teach students all aspects of music. Each lesson focuses on scales and exercises, performance pieces, and musical creation. I graduated from St. Mary's college in 2006 with a BA of performing arts. I am currently playing with the Walnut Creek Concert Band and The Community Womens Orchestra. I am a motivated teacher who loves to teach flute and to share my passion of music.  I graduated from San Francisco State University with my Bachelors in Music in Classical Flute Performance.  I have studied with Leslie Chin and the second chair of the San Francisco Symphony, Linda Lukas.  I have been able to work with some great conductors such as Dr. Martin Seggelke and John Williams.  I am currently working on the soundtrack for the upcoming Star Wars film and I have completed the season 5 soundtrack of Game of Thrones in November of 2014.
