After working out of the book for an apropriate amount of time, I introduce solo repertiore from both pop and classical genres. For those who are not in band and are just starting, my preferred method for brass and woodwind players is Tradition of Excellence. I have a student tell me what their goals are and we go from there. Some students may have a greater understanding of how the language on the page works.
