If there are no immediate goals for my students, I prefer to focus on classical technique and tone exercises that I compile through a variety of method books for each woodwind instrument. This includes but is not limited to: Moyse, Kroepsch, Baermann, Ferling, Shaw, Filas, Lacour, and many others. New York-based musician Daniel Jamieson grew up in Toronto, Canada. He currently works as a free-lance composer, conductor, woodwind specialist, and educator. Daniel's writing commissions span a variety of styles including jazz, pop, and musical theatre. He leads a 10 piece jazz ensemble, the Daniel Jamieson Tentet and his own big band, the Danjam Orchestra. I also shadowed high school and middle school students lessons through the Hartt School Community division. I was able to learn to teach these students guided by several experienced and accomplished flute instructors. Now currently I am an adjunct flute instructor at NYU. I began teaching woodwinds when I was 18 while attending Northern Illinois University. I would help junior high and high school students in the area in private lessons. At age 23 I began teaching music courses at Istanbul Bilgi University, in Turkey. After leaving Turkey in 2001, I have focused on private lessons, teaching students of all ages and ability levels.
