A flute teacher in Colorado Springs who delights in being a part of my students' musical journeys, I have over forty years' teaching and performing experience in the United States, Germany, and Norway. I have my Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance and performed as a part of U.S. Army Bands. Over the years I have taught in music stores, band rooms, community centers, and my home studio. Students have shown accelerated progress in tone, musicianship, and technique; consistently placed in All-County, -District, and -State Honor Bands and Orchestras; been awarded superior ratings in Solo and Ensemble Festivals; and enjoyed the weekly interaction with a trusted adult who listens and genuinely cares about each individual student. I've been playing flute for over 15 years and have taken advanced private lessons myself for over 8 years. In my own journey as a musician, I've realized the importance of regular practice time and setting short and long term goals. In my time teaching younger students, I've learned that locking down the basics of tone and breath control are crucial techniques for becoming a great musician.
