I started teaching from my home in 1976. I have been teaching at a studio near my home since 1999. I have taught from ages five to sixty-eight, from beginner to advanced. Some of my former students are now professional pianists. I took up the flute in 1985 in order to work with my husband, a classical guitarist, and we have been making beautiful music together. I have also been playing duets with myself bh means of my keyboard which has the ability to record and play back. Read More

I believe learning music should be a fun process. It is my goal to make sure the student enjoys learning at every step of the way. I encourage students to set realistic goals and help aid them in finding the best way to achieve them. I hope to inspire the student to become eager to learn and make music and enjoyable part of their life! Read More

I began teaching during my undergraduate studies, initially starting out as a double major in performance and education. In a short time, I realized how deeply I loved working one on one with students, which led me to pursue performance full time and teach in my private studio. Once I moved to California, I began expanding my teaching to music schools (Yamaha) and have continued to work with students in a diverse array of settings (private studio, music schools, high schools, university). My teaching method is tailored to each student depending on their level and what they want out of the lessons. I start out beginner students with a beginner method book depending on what instrument they are studying with me and progress to etudes, solo repertoire and even orchestral excerpts as they advance. We work together to find fun ways to practice and understand music performance in a variety of different styles. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I structure my lessons in the same way I structure my own personal practice. I usually start off with a few technical exercises, then cover some theory, and then work on repertoire. How much time goes in to each category will depend on the student. A beginner tends to need more time on technique, whereas someone who has an audition or recital coming up will spend most of their time on repertoire. Read More

I began teaching private students while in college through a music store in Ellicott City, MD. I taught students from age 6 to 15. I had up to 15 students on varied occasions. I maintained students on and off throughout my 7 years of music teaching in public schools following graduating from college, but lost many students when I relocated from Baltimore to Lancaster. I am hoping to network and develop a studio of students again. Read More

I believe that every teacher says this, but I teach at my students learning pace. Especially for beginners I want them to learn how to play their instrument the first time around, not the second or third time. For me as a teacher I set high expectations for my students so they know exactly what they should strive for. I always give positive feedback and then some strategies to help them along their musical way. Read More
