For piano beginning students, I usually start with the Alfred Book series. This is a really fun way for the piano students to grasp the fundamentals and learn how to independently move each finger at different times. As the student progresses, I try to find out what kind of style they enjoy playing and advise which books to purchase next. My goal as an educator is to develop a unique style and approach molded by each student in order to the gain the most success. Read More

I'm a vibrant and motivated teacher who loves working with students of all ages and most importantly, sharing my passion for music with those around me. In May of 2014, I graduated from Manhattan School of Music with a Master of Music degree in Orchestral Performance. I also received my Bachelor of Music degree in 2008 from Manhattan School of Music. I have had the amazing opportunity to perform at both Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York and at the Sydney Opera House in Australia. Read More

I never assume a student cannot succeed. Progress comes quickly with a variety of songs supported by successive exercises and methodology. Parental involvement is highly recommended and I try to work with parents to determine motivational techniques. I have found that students need a regular practice time 4 to 5 times a week, even if it is only a few minutes at a time; but, hopefully, we can find music that they like to sit down and play. I set realistic goals for each student, and I encourage each student to practice to meet their goals each week. I also make myself available to all students at anytime for questions during their practice. I have a system of teaching jazz improvisation that ensures that every student can play and read changes. I take all of the bad habits away from each student to promote healthy performing habits. Read More

What is taught is dependant on what the student currently needs. Most beginners I work with are using the Essential Elements book that they use at school. For older students I will utilize what the student is working on in school as well as determining weak areas that need to be addressed, and the areas the student might want to focus on (classical technique, jazz theory and playing, etc.). Often I will write my own exercises for the students to work on areas I feel might need attention. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my early college days, about twenty-two years ago. I have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last two decades. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for their instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy their instrument and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
