I am a motivated and passionate flute instructor who loves working with students of all different ages and backgrounds. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music and in Psychology from Williams College and have been playing the flute since I was 9. I have performed in various ensembles such as the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra, the I/o New Music Festival, various musical theatre pit orchestras, and the Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensemble at the New England Conservatory. My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods. Teaching is the most rewarding aspect of my career as it is an important way for me to share music with others. I first started teaching private flute lessons in 2013 working primarily with K-12 students. In 2015, I taught flute sectionals and music classes for middle school students as a counselor at the University of Colorado Boulder Summer Music Academy. I also served as Event Coordinator for the University of Colorado Boulder's Teaching Peace Through Music chapter, where I helped plan and promote classes on music education and learned from instructors working with underprivileged youth. As every student has different needs I dont have a specific plan that I follow. Rather I like to adapt my lesson plans to each individual students goals and playing ability. I always have my students work on a mixture of technique, etudes, and solo repertoire. For very early beginners I like to work out of Trever Wyes Very First Flute Book and his Beginners Book for the Flute. In 2010, I began my undergraduate education in Flute Performance at the renowned University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. I've enjoyed learning new performing styles by participating in competition and groups from across the United States. My musical background is diverse.
