I like to being on creating a wonderful sound, and a very good concept of rhythm which relates not only to fingers, but also and internal pulse. I like to also focus a lot on the exhale of air into the instrument, and the relationship to blowing air through technical passages. For beginning students, I start with the Douglas Steensland Flute Student books. For intermediate and advanced students, I focus on memorization of scales in addition to working out of Taffanel and Gaubert's 17 Daily Exercises, etude books (i.e., Melodious and Progressive series), and standard flute repertoire. My goal as a teacher is to help the students improve their overall musicianship, while also addressing each students personal goals. In November 2013, Roy moved to the New York City vicinity to discipline himself, and study Jazz as a music based on American culture. In March 2015, Roy was accepted to the Manhattan School of Music. And also, he was transferred to CUNY Queens College, Aaron Copland School of Music. Then he graduated with the degree of Master of Music in Jazz Study in 2018. Roy participated “George Gershwin International Music Competition2017 in New York” as a Classical-Jazz saxophonist, and won third prize in Woodwinds and Brass category in the competition. Read More
