That's why I always create new, customized lesson plans and provide individualized materials for all of my students. I have also worked with a contemporary community music school in San Diego with a "Rock" Focus, working with elementary and middle school drummers, vocalists, guitarists and pianists to form their own bands.Currently, in addition to teaching privately, I am an Arts Department Substitute Teacher for La Jolla Country Day School, working with both their band and orchestra programs in the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. The first few lessons will focus on discovering our goals as one team: student, teacher and parents. We will have an open conversation about specific aspects of the flute and music that each student would like to improve as well as identifying their strengths. I use a variety of teaching methods, based on my own experience as a performer that I gained throughout long years of international education. I usually start my beginner students with Flute 101 Mastering the Basics method book, followed with the selection of scales and technical exercises of my creation and a repertoire selection (including etudes) matching the skills progression.
