For more advanced students, I will help them explore their particular interests, introduce them to traditional repertoire, and for jazz/rock/pop students, aid them in the process of transcribing the music they love, which benefits their vocabulary as well as their ears. In addition, I have performed in the pit for the musicals Once Upon a Mattress, Fiddler on the Roof, Anything Goes, Oklahoma, and Beauty and the Beast. I have also worked closely with many composers and has premiered new works by Nolan Stolz, Masatora Goya, Sean Pallatroni, Brendon Randall-Myers, and made the world premiere recording of the Delian Suite, from a body of international composers in the Delian Society. For beginning students, I start teaching fundamentals through the Rubank Essential Elements book. As students move toward intermediate-advanced levels I introduce the Jeanne Baxtresser book of Orchestral Excerpts and the Taffanel-Gaubert book for technique. I bring in a piece each lesson for sight-reading practice to encourage students to read music on their toes. Additionally, through practicing scales, students learn music theory and notation. At the end of each lesson, I give students a musical goal for their next lesson to motivate active participation in their learning process. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I often use the Andrew Scott Method for flute. When the student is considerably advance I will use the Rubank Book for flute begginers. Once the student is at a comfortable level, I will proceed to introduce him to Body Mapping. Hello! I'm 25 year Berklee College of Music Alumnus with 16 years playing experience! I started studying the saxophone at 9 years old and spent most of my early school years performing in community, school, and local college jazz bands around the Seattle-Tacoma area of Washington State. My music has given me the opportunity to travel the world, and in summer of 2016, I conducted a tour of Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda with my band the AfroXchange in conjunction with music therapy organization Global Youth Groove where I hosted jazz masterclasses, as well as performed at clubs and festivals, and assisted a music therapy team around the countryside.
