I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2012 I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and I am a Certified Music Teacher K-12. In 2014 I received my Masters Degree in Jazz Performance. For novice students, I will most likely start with a method book such as one from the Essential Element's series. However, I will typically move students through the method book quickly and get right into performance repertoire that is appropriate for their age and level. Composing your own pieces and learning to improvise are extremely important in my method of teaching so I will also start teaching students how to write their own music as soon as possible. For older beginners, I make sure I work on their scale patterns and so forth, but I play to this particular student's personal interests and what they prefer to do. As a student gets more mature musically, I show them etudes, official flute repertoire, and eventually introduce them to harder technique practices, such as 17 Grande Exercises for Flute by Taffanel and Gaubert. I expect each student to improve bit by bit with each lesson or so and focus on their progress, as this will improve their individual musicality and their interest in music! Read More

This takes a great deal of devotion and research into finding the resources that students need to find the music they love best.
