I began studying music performance in university in 2006, under the tutelage of Dr. Sara Gill. Dr. Gill had just returned from an amazing study abroad with Trevor Wye and his studio, and was able to offer cutting edge techniques. After my first year of University Dr. Gill moved, and I was subsequently passed to the instruction of the amazing Dr. Naomi Seidman. I carefully review the goals set my me and my students and break them down into manageable steps, acknowledging and celebrating their accomplishments along the way. I am constantly evaluating what is helpful to each student and using this information to guide my instruction for future lessons. My overall goal is to help a student learn music using an instrument and to help them discover their passion for music so they can become lifelong learners who truly enjoy participating in music. I graduated from the State University of New York at Fredonia in May 2017 with two Bachelors degrees in music education and flute performance. In my time there, I completed secondary band methods, elementary band methods, elementary general music methods, as well as my student teaching at Morrow Elementary (band and general music) and Reed Middle Schools (band and general music) in the Central Islip School District on Long Island. It all started when I took my first drum lesson in the 4th grade. From then on, I wanted to play whenever I could. I played in all my school bands from middle school to high school. Graduated Southern University, home of the world famous "Human Jukebox" which I was a member of for 3 years, as well as playing for my church since I was 13. Along the way I have had the honor of meeting and learning from respected musicians such as Lawrence Jackson (former director of SU Bands), Herman Jackson (Brother of Randy Jackson), Jerry Lee Lane (Marching percussion pioneer) and countless others.
