That being said, for children and beginners, I will focused mainly on the basics such as: proper posture, proper guitar technique, basic chords, basic rhythms, warm-ups ... Once all of that is covered, my method will vary depending on the student's goals and the style where are in. I tailor my lesson to each student, everyone has a different way of learning and interpreting the crazy world of music. For beginning students we start with the basics, how to hold a pick, how to tune your guitar and basic fretting technique. From there we go into the basic fundamentals of chords and scales. I give a very good foundational approach to the learning experience. For example, I teach students how to find the notes on the guitar and the bass. From there on the guitar, I teach the open string chords. On the bass, I give fingering exercises and patterns to work on. With the chords, we look at simple songs to play. I received a BA in music with a minor in philosophy in 2002. After College wound up working different dead end jobs, until I became a stone fabricator of granite countertops. In 2006 I went back to Berklee college of music for one year and wound up transferring to Longy School of Music in 2007. This is where I got to study with Charlie Banacos, George Garzone, John Lockwood, Bob Gullotti, and was introduced to concepts such as George Russel's Lydian chromatic concept. Read More
