As the student progresses, I introduce techniques that appeal to his or her preferences and strengths as they appear. For adults and teens, I find out what the student's musical goals are, such as accompanying themselves or lead playing, and tailor my instruction and materials to keep the lessons engaging and effective. My method for teaching is individualization. All my lessons are individualized for each student's ability level and musical interests. If need be, I use certain books to supplement my lessons and for personal at home practice. Normally I only recommend books to students that want to further their understanding and ability in sight-reading, drawing from my own experiences learning from various books and online sources. I often encourage my students to learn songs instead of just focusing on exercises and technique. Read More
